SING J LEE 李承禧

Sing J. Lee is an award-winning writer and director.

Born in Manchester, raised in Wrexham and of Hong Kong descent, Lee’s storytelling draws audiences into the intimate and often unspoken corners of the human condition. Known for a striking visual language, he transforms personal narratives into universal experiences that transcend genre.

Early recognition as BBC’s Best of the North led him to international acclaim, with accolades from Cannes Lions, VMAs, BRIT Awards and Clios for his work with artists including Donald Glover, Alicia Keys, The Killers and Pharrell. 

His artistic commissions include a sci-fi adaptation of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM for the British Council and DREAMWEAVERS, a short film showcased in Carrie Mae Weems’ REFLECTIONS FOR NOW exhibition at the Barbican Centre. Lee was named one of Variety’s Top Ten Storytellers to Watch in 2019.

Lee premiered his directorial feature debut, THE ACCIDENTAL GETAWAY DRIVER, at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, earning him the Directing Award for U.S. Dramatic. He was subsequently named a BAFTA Breakthrough Fellow.
