SING J LEE 李承禧

Sing J. Lee is an award-winning writer and director.

Born in Manchester, raised in Wrexham and of Hong Kong descent, his work is characterised by his distinct visual language, often exploring the human condition.

Following recognition for his early short films, including BBC's Best of the North, Lee’s music videos and short form work received international acclaim, awarded by Cannes Lions, VMA’s, BRIT Awards and Clios. In 2016, Lee was commissioned by the British Council to direct a sci-fi adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, commemorating the 400th Anniversary of Shakespeare. 

Selected as Variety's Top Ten Storytellers to Watch in 2019, Lee’s notable collaborations have included Donald Glover, Alicia Keys & The Killers. 

In 2023, his select work was showcased at the Barbican Centre as part of Carrie Mae Weems : Reflections for Now exhibition. He was subsequently named a BAFTA Breakthrough Fellow that same year. 

Lee premiered his directorial feature debut, The Accidental Getaway Driver, at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, where he received the Directing Award for U.S. Dramatic. The film will be released with Utopia in US theatres 28th February 2025.
